Working quickly across a multi-disciplinary format, artist Alan Fears left art behind after failing and dropping out of two art courses. However re-joicing in the medium of paint Fears paints imagery that makes him feel something, ‘at the age of the 38 I decided to paint like it was 1989.’ Fears’s paintings underline the essence of fun, meaning is secondary and following the rules is not in the rule book for Fears, approximating an image seems more important than a perfect interpretation. Communicating the idea that everyone is ridiculous, Fears’s works break down the formalities of life and reminds us not to be serious.
‘The pointlessness in life is the point to life, that’s how it appears to me.’
The random notion to Fears transcends into his works, each piece leaves the eye wondering who? what? where? and how? but really the true meaning to Fear’s paintings is that there is no meaning.
