The bootleg world of Kyle Ng is one of creativity, originality and passion. The graphic t-shirt has been a symbol of personal expression since the first print was worn. The fundamentals of a graphic tee have been the staple that bind so many fashion brands together, and Brain Dead is no exception. Co founder Ng set up Brain Dead with Ed Davis with a permanent strive to keep the underground traditions of Punk and DIY culture alive through the graphic T-shirt. Using influences from all over Ng, collects art, music, cult cinema, rare printed ephemera, handmade toys and really bootleg anything, that he uses to gain inspiration for his graphic tee designs. Ng along with Davis use the medium of a t-shirt to express personal passions; in an interview with HYPEBEAST Ng express’s:


‘A strong graphic tee needs to mean something. They usually convey a small visual representation of who you are. Our tees are our language. It’s how we talk to the world. It’s how we get our ideas out there.’


The communication that Brain Dead and Ng eject are represented through an abundance of exciting, explosive and energetic graphics that simply describe the weird and whacky world of Ng. The aesthetics that flow through Ng are transferred onto the tees of Brain Dead, creating a compelling graphic-led approach that has garnered much praise in the streetwear world.
