Founded by Pete ‘OwlFacedBoy’ Oak, Shmallery is a non profit art promotion brand, heavily influenced on street art and graffiti both local and international. October 2016 saw Shmallery host its first independent show, “Streets of Hastings” a group show of original artwork inspired by Hastings.

Hosted in a basement the group art show revealed an insight into the local midnight art movement; on show were more than 20 specially invited Street Artists and Graffiti Writers, including Ben Eine, Attai, Fro and Drew Copus. The underground environment gave way to a setting of grunge, dirt and street the essence and background that the artwork on show evolved from. The walls alined a variety of colour, shape, texture and subject matter, expressing multiple characters, emotions and visual imagery. The exhibition curated by Oak and Shmallery offers a revealing perspective of the street art and graffiti scene in Hastings, and is refreshing to see non profit art brands like Shmallery doing their thing.
