Experimental Motion: the art of film innovation, explores Brighton’s success as a place for experimental film-making, exhibiting a series of short films, and displacing a collection of equipment used by the practitioners.


A pioneer of experimental film Jeff Keen explored rapid-fire animations and multiple screen projections that redefined multimedia art in Britain. Exhibiting in Experimental Motion, his early 8 mm and 16 mm films are built for speed, combining footage of jazz, motorbikes and car culture; with experimental animations alluding to 20th century culture.
